Apple Mac Problems
Q1. I have uploaded tracks with accompanying samples to my profile, and have also made them active. How come I can't hear my tracks??!!

Blooter was created using PCs. Because of that, Apple Mac users may experience problems when trying to upload tracks to their profiles. If for whatever reason your tracks will not play after you have uploaded them with accompanying samples, after having also made sure to make them 'Active' please contact an administrator (help@blooter.com). We will adjust the settings of each track using our admin system and then upload reformatted compatible versions.

Q5. When do I receive any commissions earned?

You will receive your earnings at the end of each calendar month via a paypal mass pay transfer. However, you will only receive the automated commission via masspay if you have a minimum Blooter account balance of £10. Smaller balances will accrue until they hit the £10 mark. Once this value has been reached, your balance will be included in the next masspay transfer to your paypal account . Should you wish to claim on a smaller balance, please email us at admin@blooter.com . We will then pay what you are owed manually.

Q6. How do I claim my share of the profits earned at Blooter events?

Blooter will mail the respective Agents affected after the event, giving them details of any entitlements, Commissions will ONLY be paid via paypal. hence you must sign up to Blooter with a paypal interfaced email address!!! If you aren't sure how to do this go to www.paypal.com and follow the instructions. It is quite simple, and will make sure that you don't lose out on any earnings entitled to you. All you need to do is make sure that the email address you use when signing up to Blooter, is the same as the one you use for your paypal account. Remember that Agents are entitled to 10% of profits made on the night, per act that they represent. So, if Blooter makes a profit of £1000, a Blooter Agent who has one act performing will earn £100. If that Blooter Agent has two acts performing, he or she will earn £200 etc

Q7. What is the end of year Bonus? How much might I be entitled to?

This will be a figure determined by Blooter and will usually be subject to profits made by the company. As the figure is likely to change from one year to the next, it is impossible to say with certainty, how much that figure will amount to. More bonus information will be published closer to the date of issue.

Yes. In order to sell material you must have a Paypal account. To be able to receive the proceeds from your sales, the email address that you use to sign in to Blooter, must match the email address that you have registered with Paypal. If the email addresses are not the same, you can amend your log in email via your Blooter 'My Area' page. Alternatively, change your Paypal details. Other details, such as your password, can also be changed within the 'My Area' section.

Q7. Can I view a history of my previous purchases?

Q8. How do the charts work?

Pretty much as you would expect. Each time a track is listened to, the respective artist earns 1 point. When a track is downloaded, the respective artist earns 2 points. However, when a track is purchased, the respective artist will get 3 points.

Q9. Why, on my profile, are some tracks highlighted red?

This is because you have not updated the song to make it 'Active'. Until you do this your material will not be made available to listeners (unless already a track on a featured album).

Q10. Why can I not alter the content of an Album after I've made it live?

Because a customer will want to buy an album which features the material that they are expecting to receive. If an album format is changed regularly, the songs on that album could change dramatically too.

Q11. Do artists keep the rights to their music?

Yes. We just have the right to broadcast your music on Blooter and at Blooter events.

Q12. Why do I need a particular size of photograph to use on my profile as my main picture?

If you are named as the Artist of the Month, your main photograph is used on the Blooter homepage. If it isn't the right size it will not render well on the site, which means that you aren't getting the visual exposure to mirror the quality of your music. For this reason we are strict with the main photograph. If you are having trouble, just utilise the other photo slots which are much more flexible.

Q13. I've uploaded a track and made it 'active' but nobody seems to be able to listen to it or download it. Why is that?

This is probably because you have not uploaded a sample. Because some Blooter artists choose to sell their material, it is important to give listeners an opportunity to hear a sample before choosing to pay for the download. It is therefore required that all artists upload the track itself, as well as a sample piece. The 'sample' can usually be as short or as long as you like. However - If you are allowing your material to be downloaded free of charge, you might want the sample to simply be a duplicate of the original track. However, if the track used for the sample is unusually large, it may not upload successfully. If that happens, downsize it to under 4Mb. The sample process offers the best possible protection to artists who wish to sell material. This protection cannot be guaranteed using other methods.

Sign up problems
Q1. I have signed up to Blooter but I have not yet received the acknowledgement email!

Check in your junk mail folder. Due to 'spam' mail, email providers have become more thorough in their filtering processes. As a consequence legitimate mail such as that sent by Blooter may be mistakenly classified as apam. If this doesn't solve the problem it is highly likely that the cause of it is a firewall which is blocking the return email from Blooter. If this is the case, there's a good chance that you are signing up at your place of work. To get around the problem we recommend you sign up with a non work related email address such as your hotmail, gmail or personal outlook address etc. Because they aren't work related, they are unaffected by corporate firewalls. To put it simply, don't sign up using your work email address. Sign up with your personal email instead. .

Venues, promoters, managers and providers of other related services
Q1. How do I promote a roster of bands on Blooter if I am a label, booking agent, manager, or other entity?

Two options: Sign up as a Listener which is free and use your profile as a blog facility to promote the acts that you represent. The forums may also be of use for this. However, we have designed the Agent Membership category to provide a facility whereby you can promote acts, and earn commissions from doing so, should your acts choose to sell their material.

Q3. We are a label. Do we get paid for our artists songs?

That is an issue for you and your artists to decide. Blooter uses Paypal to transfer sale proceeds to members' external accounts. It does not matter to us whether this is a label's account or an artist's account.
